Hello bloggers! This week I want to write about one of the funniest social networks: Youtube.
I know Youtube since a long time, but only since a couple of years I really started enjoying it and exploring it. Through this platform you can share and enjoy multiple videos uploaded by other people, videos about almost anything.
What is Youtube?
YouTube is a video-sharing website that was created by three former PayPal employees in February 2005 and has been owned by Google since late 2006. The site allows users to upload, view, and share videos, and it makes use of Adobe Flash Video and HTML5 technology to display a wide variety of user-generated and corporate media video. Available content includes video clips, TV clips, music videos, and other content such as video blogging, short original videos, and educational videos (Ref: wikipedia)
Did you know that more than 1 billion people visit Youtube each month? Thats a huge number. What drive people to this social network are the billion of videos available to watch. On average, over 6 billion videos are watched per month and 100 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute.
Youtube and Memes
Do you know what Memes are? A meme is “an idea, behavior, or style that spreads from person to person within a culture.” A meme acts as a unit for carrying cultural ideas, symbols, or practices that can be transmitted from one mind to another through writing, speech, gestures, rituals, or other imitable phenomena with a mimicked theme. An Internet meme might originate and stay online. However, frequently memes cross over and may spread from the offline world to online or vice-versa.
Memes can be about everything, and in order to pe popular/successful the only thing that requires is to be catchy. Look the follow Memes and you’ll get the idea:
